Default Struts

Ok...so I feel like a dumb ass, but I have never farked with struts before and I'll be changing my struts in my stealth pretty soon. Getting them in and out is no problem. I know I have to get an alignment after changed...

Here is my question, can I use ratchet starps to compress the springs, or should I rent a spring compressor? I'm just trying to save money, but if its a pain in the ass to use ratchet straps is is just flat out unsafe, then I will rent the tool.

Thanks

You DO NOT want to do it without the spring compressor. Those springs will kill you and it's not worth the risk.

Go rent one from autozone for about 30 bux. U get ir money back wen u return it so its free. And its 100x easier than any other way.
And no. Yu really cant use rachet straps unless u have ur funural arrangments already completed. Lol
Justins correct. For once.

Just picked up a strut compressor...it was $55.85 for it. And its 100% return when I bring it back!

The struts on my SRT were replaced without the use of a spring compressor I watched them do it. I did the ones on my 98 neon acr with a rented compressor. I didn't need it to take them apart.....but it made it easy to assemble with the new struts.

Thats kinda why I went with it. To make it easy. The more and more I thought about it, the more and more that ratchet strap idea sounded like a pain in the ass. Because all my strap, when you rease them, it releases everything. So that would make 1 side lose tention, and the other would. Making it a mess and a PITA

I was thinking that the ratchet strap idea was dangerous for the fact that once you got all the tension on it from compressing the spring, there is a good chance that the strap could slip off the spot where you have it and release the tension when your fingers are in the way. OUCH!!!
